Jane says it so well (as always): A good book is never, ever quite long enough! It almost always leaves you wishing the author had included a particular scene, one which you can picture in your mind, but wish that the author would help you out by filling the missing pieces. My own favorite scene that never happened in Pride and Prejudice: when Lady Catherine finds out that Darcy and Elizabeth ARE engaged after all! I can see the expression on her face as she reads the letter, and I can imagine her general tone of voice as she expresses all the disapproval of which she is capable. But I do wish Jane had fleshed that part out a little bit.
How about you? Is there a scene from a Jane Austen novel that you wish had been written? Take a stab at it here!
